The browser Player runs face tracking, microphone lip sync, expressions and lighting entirely in Chrome or Edge — nothing to install, nothing uploaded. Open the bundled sample or your own .mavatar file and the avatar follows your face and voice immediately.
What the Player can do
- Face tracking from your webcam, processed locally in the browser
- Microphone lip sync — your voice opens and closes the mouth
- Expressions — switch the face (smile, surprise, wink…)
- Lighting — the same light controls as the editor
- Your own avatars — open any
.mavatarfile exported from the editor
Streaming from the Player
The Player has no OBS stream URL — that needs Studio's Live page. Instead:
- Choose Open avatar window (Chrome or Edge).
- In OBS, capture that window with Window Capture on a green background.
- Add a Chroma Key filter to remove the green.
For OBS transparency, the browser-source stream view, and switching expressions from other apps, use the editor's Live page — see the OBS streaming guide.
Player vs the full editor
| Player (browser) | Studio (local) | |
|---|---|---|
| Install | None — just open the page | Node.js 22.17+ and the repo |
| Drive with face/voice | Yes | Yes (Live page) |
| Create/edit avatars | No | Yes — agent + editor |
| OBS Browser Source | No (Window Capture instead) | Yes, with transparent background |
| Expressions from other apps | No | Yes (Stream Deck, shortcuts, curl) |
Getting a .mavatar file to try
The sample loads by default. To try your own: create the avatar in the editor (see the 4-step guide), then use Export .mavatar — one file containing the rig, built layers, drawn expressions and metadata. The Player opens it directly; nothing is uploaded.
